I will try to make this as clear and unambiguous as possible.
Transgender people are here for a reason. Transgender people exist and are becoming visible in a big way now, at this moment in humanity's journey, for a reason.
Don't get me wrong. We are not just here, newly arrived, now. We have always been here. Since the dawn of humanity, we have been here. We were revered and respected and we had a place to belong, in most of the world's ancient cultures. But we were always here, as a consistent fraction of the human population. Now, there are likely the same proportionate numbers of us ~ our population rising along with that of the rest of humanity, which is now 7.5 Billion strong. It is the current estimate that there are 25 million *known* Transgender people in the world and that number is given with a caveat that, according to all known methods of census science, for every one person counted in any population, two more are never counted. So... there are likely 75 million of us on the planet at this time.
And that 75 million is here and demanding to be acknowledged because, through our livingness, we have a message for the rest of you.
Our purpose here is evolutionary.
We ARE the future. We ARE the harbinger of a humanity that can transcend its polarizations, its tribalism, its insistence upon limited reality. We are messengers of how to come back into balance with the natural world, with Gaia, and all of Her other children. We are messengers of how to bring balance between the masculine and feminine principles and how to create a human culture that leaves behind beliefs and practices that separate, divide, create competition and destruction. We embody, quite literally, the way through to a harmony previously unknown by humanity.
The sad thing is, many Trans people do not even know that this is our purpose, because there are no more havens left anywhere untouched by binary, duality-enforcing, divisive and shaming religions or political platforms. We are taught, by the prevailing societal ideals, that we are abominations, that we are beneath notice, that we do not deserve to live, much less be granted rights, much less be recognized as sacred beings with a message to be heeded.
We do not have places of belonging. We do not have schools or traditions anymore that show us how to be sacred vessels of great purpose.
THAT will change. We must and we will build the places of belonging. We must and will create schools and manifest traditions that teach us how to embrace our beingness as sacred vessels of great purpose.
But as we build and manifest, we need to show up and say, with every fiber of our beingness: we are here for YOUR sake. Every cis gender person. We are here for YOU. Even in our own sleeping, if we are sleeping. Even in our own forgetting, if we have forgotten, what our role has ever and always been.
We need to show up and say: we are the great sign of where humanity is headed, if it can choose that path. Not a horizon where gender ceases to be, no... But a horizon where gender ceases to be defined as that which isolates and exploits, divides and oppresses. We are the living breathing example of how humanity will transcend all that limits it. We will become MORE that when we are all awake to that fact and living its truth consciously, as a collective.
We are not the "fringe". We are the horizon. We are not the "exception". We are the future. We are not "too small to matter". We had better matter!!
I posted this quote from one of the XMen movies because the attitude towards mutants in the comic books and films mirrors rather frighteningly the attitude of much of society towards Trans people. Trans folks who read the comics and watch the films will tell you just how triggery they can be, because the metaphor is a little too damn realistic. Stan Lee intended the comics and the films to be messages about diversity and about the fight for human and civil rights for all of those classes of people who have been discounted, disregarded, pushed to the edge of society, attacked for their way of being outside of some arbitrarily-decided "norm"... When Professor Xavier talks about humanity not being very good at sharing the world... oh how we GET IT. When systematic oppression and discrimination targets mutants... oh how we GET IT. When violence against mutants is condoned, because: "freaks"... oh how we GET IT.
MUCH like the mutants in XMEN are still human, albeit a different kind of human, Transgender people are still. Just. People. But we are a different kind of person and that is a GOOD thing. Our presence here serves the growth and healing and evolution of humanity.
But if you don't want us here and you reject us and you destroy us for fear of what.... being made obsolete? Being replaced? Some people certainly think that is the plan or the outcome, if we are to be allowed to exist at all. If you allow us to be considered worthless and deserving to be eradicated, it would be a great loss.
We are not saviors. We are not leaders. We are not generals. We are not interested in playing any silly roles here. We just want to live our lives, to their fullest potential and... in living our lives... in displaying our fullest beingness in its as-yet-unknown potential... we will radiate the message of "how"...
HOW to LIVE in HARMONY and end the duality and polarization, once and for all.
We can do that without doing a damn special thing. We can do that just by living and thriving.
That is what I needed to say.
Thanks for listening.
